Mitigate troublesome behaviours, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, and emotions to improve relationships and social skills. Psychotherapy helps to alleviate emotional pain or confusion while allowing you to find balance in your life. Regain a sense of control and learn healthy coping techniques as well as new problem-solving skills.
Psychotherapy aims to improve your self-concept, sense of well-being and mental health. Just like plants need a harmonious balance of water, soil and sunshine, if we think of ourselves as a "tree of life," we can benefit from an integrated, holistic psychotherapeutic approach built around mind, body and spirit. Together, they can form the basis for how you can bring uplifting and lasting happiness into your life.
My name is Susan Bascillo. I am a registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Social Worker. I hold a master's degree in health and mental health from the University of Toronto and a social work honours degree from York University. I am a qualified mental health professional. I have experience working with individuals who have had or are experiencing life-changing events that have significantly impacted many layers of their lives.
I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds. Being a psychotherapist has allowed me to connect with society and better understand our thought processes and behaviours. I use many different therapeutic techniques to work with each individual who is dealing with mental and emotional issues to regain control of their lives. I employ various theories and ideas to provide best practices and care specific to your needs. In addition to working in a field that I love; I have the opportunity to explore new challenges while helping you grow as an individual and rediscover yourself.
I believe the body, mind and spirit are connected, and fort his reason, I practice from a Holistic framework using an integrative approach that focuses on the relationship between mind, body, and spirit, attempting to understand and address the ways issues in one aspect of a person can lead to concerns in other areas of life.
This approach helps my clients become better attuned to their awareness, often promoting greater acceptance of the self. Everyone is unique. For this reason, I practice from a person-centred approach. As a therapist, I am not committed to a singular therapeutic approach. Instead, I blend elements from different methods and tailor their treatment according to each client's needs. I don't believe in one size fits all therapy.
Online therapy is mental health therapy where you attend sessions online or by phone in the comfort of your own space. Online therapy sessions can be conducted via video or phone sessions. Online therapy means can now replace in-office therapy sessions so that social distancing can be practiced while still receiving therapy to support you during this challenging time. All therapy provided follows the CRPO, OCSWSSW and HIPPA guidelines to ensure your safety.
I design and host workshops to raise awareness on work burnout, diversity and inclusion, race-based trauma, mental health stigma and more, for organizations that want to understand and respond to their employees, friends and acquaintances who may be experiencing trauma and or compromise wellbeing.
My goal is to encourage authentic conversations and challenge unhealthy patterns through introspection. In addition, the workshops objective is to help attendees understand signs and symptoms of mental health. And how to interact with those facing mental illness.
